Listen and watch, anticipating the sugar season -Brian

It’s snowing again as I sit in the barn office writing this post. I’m off the road and back on the farm for sugaring. The weather patterns have been relatively traditional for our region of Vermont with consistent snow cover, I feel like we’re in for a good season.

The boys and I got the sugar shack up and operational and even got to hang a couple buckets. Now we’re just watching the sky, checking the weather, and talking to neighbors down in the valley to get a read on when the trees will run. Amoralismus . The best way to gauge when it’s going to pop, is at our local watering hole and listen to the old timers.

My name’s Brian, I live and work at Meadows Bee Farm. I was abroad for 5 months and came back for my 3rd round of making make syrup. I never thought I would get into the production of maple syrup but hey, this is Vermont.
