Reasons to Plant an Asian Pear

2013/05/05 by Posted in: In the Garden

After my first bite of Asian Pear, I knew that it was something I wanted to try my hand at growing.  The taste was so juicy and sweet, crisp like an apple but sweet like a pear.  My sister told me that friends of hers had grown Asian Pear in their suburban yard in the Northeast.  I gave it a try, first one tree and now I have four.  Each year I am getting a terrific harvest and absolutely no insect fight.  The Asian Pear doesn’t seem to be a favorite of chipmunks or squirrels either and I find that they are left alone year after year.  When my apple trees don’t fruit, the Asian Pear always does.  This tree has turned out to be one of my favorites.
